Marshall University Women in Aviation Chapter hosts Girls in Aviation Day in Charleston
The Marshall University Chapter of Women in Aviation International (WAI) will host Girls in Aviation Day 2025, a free program for girls ages 8 to 18, on Saturday, September 20, 2025, from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the Marshall University Bill Noe Flight School in Charleston. More than 100 girls and their chaperones are expected to attend.
“Girls in Aviation Day is about sparking curiosity and providing a firsthand look at the many career paths available in aviation,” said Paige Withrow, Chief Marketing Officer at West Virginia International Yeager Airport (CRW). “We want participants to leave knowing they can be part of the future of this industry.”
The Marshall University Chapter will join Women in Aviation International chapters around the world for this annual outreach event designed to inspire the next generation of women in aviation. Chapters globally will be hosting unique programs filled with hands-on activities, inspirational speakers, and opportunities to meet women working in aviation and aerospace.
This year’s Charleston event will feature:
- Hands-on activities led by aviation professionals
- Meet-and-greet opportunities with pilots, aviation professionals, and engineers
- An inside look at the Marshall University Bill Noe Flight School
- Special guest appearances from the CRW Wildlife Canine Team, Hercules and Ned
- Face Painting, Inflatables, and Cotton Candy
The program is free and open to the public. No advance registration is required — participants and their chaperones will be required to sign in at the door.
“We are passionate about inspiring the next generation and providing them with role models who can encourage them to pursue aviation careers,” Withrow added. “This event is about giving them access, encouragement, and the tools to dream big.”
