$25 Million in Federal Funding Announced for CRW Next Terminal Development Project

Feb 19, 2026

West Virginia International Yeager Airport (CRW) has received a $25 million Congressionally Directed Spending (CDS) allocation to support the next phase of the terminal modernization project.

U.S. Senators Shelley Moore Capito and Jim Justice, along with Kanawha County Commissioners, Central West Virginia Regional Airport Authority Board Members, and Airport leadership, announced the funding during a press event at CRW.

The funding was secured through a Fiscal Year 2026 CDS request made by Senator Capito and will be applied to the CRW Next Terminal Development Project, a multi-phase effort designed to modernize the airport’s facilities and enhance the passenger experience.

“This funding allows us to move forward with the next major phase of CRW Next and deliver meaningful improvements to our passengers,” said Airport Director and CEO Dominique Ranieri. “We are grateful for the continued federal support that helps us invest in the future of air service in West Virginia.”

What This Funding Supports

The $25 million allocation will go towards funding key improvements, including:

  • A new state-of-the-art TSA security checkpoint
  • Upgrades to post-security holding spaces
  • Modernized restrooms
  • Updated restaurant and concession spaces

These enhancements are designed to improve passenger flow, comfort, and overall efficiency while positioning CRW to meet the evolving needs of travelers and airline partners.

Construction of the next phase will begin upon completion of the ongoing pre-security renovations, which began in October 2025. Airport operations will continue throughout construction.

Moving CRW Forward

The CRW Next Terminal Development Project represents a long-term investment in modern, accessible facilities that strengthen CRW’s role as a gateway for business and leisure travel throughout the region.

Additional project updates and timelines will be shared as development progresses.
